What is Maw of the Cube?
Deep beneath the plague-ridden city of Vermouth, something stirs—a vast, sentient hunger known only as The Maw. What began as a holy quarantine has become something far worse. The faithful vanish beneath the Cathedral, their bodies never recovered. The Maw is not just consuming—it is growing.
In this grimdark survival horror 5e adventure for 3-5 players (Levels 5-7), the PCs will:
- Unravel the mystery of Vermouth—a city collapsing under plague, zealotry, and fear.
- Descend into the Maw, a shifting, living dungeon where the walls breathe, and the dead do not rest.
- Face Malakar, the Maw’s Chosen, a warlock who has become one with the hunger Below.
- Survive the River of Devouring, an acidic flood that will consume all who fail to escape.
- Decide the fate of the Maw—destroy it, control it, or become part of it.
The adventure is divided into Three Acts:
- Act 1: The Rotting City. Investigate the truth behind the plague, navigate desperate survivors and fanatical zealots, and uncover the horror beneath the Cathedral.
- Act 2: The Maw’s Descent. Enter a shifting dungeon of flesh and survive acidic death traps, collapsing corridors, and mind-breaking whispers.
- Act 3: The Heart of the Maw. Confront Malakar and the Maw’s Core, battle horrors beyond reason, and escape before you are devoured.
