In “Vor & Pal: The Knights of Chaos,” a party of 4-6 characters (levels 5-7) is summoned by King Eridon to liberate the city of Goen from the reign of terror instigated by his former knights, the twin brothers Vor and Pal. As the players investigate, they uncover a darker truth: the twins have been corrupted by Vladimir Kreskovaar, an ancient vampire lord who seduced them into an evil pact. The adventure blends urban investigation, villa infiltration, and dungeon crawling across five parts, with two optional sidequests and four possible conclusions.

Part 1: Gathering Information

The players explore the city of Goen, gathering intelligence on the twins’ corruption — from the regulars of a lively tavern to a guarded merchant in the marketplace to an informant tucked away in a gambling den. Not everyone they meet is a friend, and the city’s underworld holds as many threats as leads.

Part 2: The Road to the Villa

The players set out through dense forest to reach the twins’ villa. A sudden rainstorm turns the path treacherous, and guards loyal to Vor and Pal lie in wait along the way.

Part 3: Arrival at the Villa

The adventure features a dynamic day/night system that significantly changes what the party faces at the villa. The players must scout the imposing estate and its defenses, choosing their approach carefully according to the hour.

Part 4: The Showdown at the Villa

The players infiltrate the villa, a sprawling multi-floor complex of guard patrols, servant quarters, a trapped armory, and a library that hides the building’s architectural secrets — leading at last to the room where they confront the twins themselves, or their guards, depending on when they strike. Somewhere within is a hidden passage to the true horror beneath.

Part 5: Vladimir Kreskovaar

The players descend into the vampire lord’s lair, past shadow glyphs, ambushes, and vampire spawn, and may free an imprisoned cleric who can become a powerful ally for the fight to come. The adventure culminates in a climactic battle against Vladimir Kreskovaar in his personal chamber.

Multiple Conclusions

The adventure features four distinct endings shaped by the players’ choices — whether the twins are killed or captured, whether their corruption is lifted when the vampire falls, and whether the vampire lord is ever discovered at all — each leading to different consequences for the kingdom.

Sidequests

Two optional sidequests enrich the investigation, each one a way to earn the trust — and the intelligence — of a wary contact in Goen, sending the party against a rival merchant and a criminal syndicate before the road to the villa even begins.
